"I have been to a few print exhibitions in my time. I expect you have too. Has it ever struck you, as it did me the other day, how popular the prints are that have a small red dot on them?
They always seem to be the ones that sell.
Looking through your website I couldn't see that you had included any little red dots. There maybe an artistic reason for this that I, perhaps, would not appreciate, but I thought I would raise the matter with the idea that you may, in future consider including the odd little red dot in one of the bottom corners of a few of your offerings, to see if it helps to sell the prints for you.
Please don't take this amiss. I would hate you to think that I want to interfere in the creative process, or any other of your processes."

So I have decided to take Mr Smith's good advice

ReplyDeleteWhilst we're on the subject of sales please put me down for a round dozen of the print with the dot on the nose. It does so remind me of my grandmother, who God rest her soul, was similarly afflicted.
I wonder if you would indulge me further in order to make the point that my SOLD is not actually sold. Well, of course it is SOLD, but there again it isn't. I hope that clarifies things. But there again is it actually for sale? It certainly can't be sold unless it is. I shall have think about that.

ReplyDeleteDear PB, I've just noticed that you've put SOLD on the market. I can see that my attempt at clarification has not been a great success. The point I was trying to make is that SOLD is not sold and is not, as yet even potentially sold, as it is not being sold by me, either in the past or present, although, of course, SOLD is by me. Now do you see.

ReplyDeleteThank you for ordering a pleasing red dot to wear upon your nose.Unfortunately due to their unadulterated popularity and high demand we only have Roving Red Dots available at this time. As you know the Roving variety of dot cannot be trusted to perch in any one place and often holiday on other people's spectacular features.

Due to the understandable dearth of red dots and the unpredictable nature of the Roving Red Dots, I encourage you to consider the less coveted yet still quite auspicious half red dot. In lieu of this, there yet exists the possibility of the green dot which, although the least valued of the four, should not be entirely overlooked.
