Word Play and Fun with Fonts by three Wise Fish

    Editors Note:

we have had to abandon

and   it   wasn't   even  the   6th   of   November

our Word Play and Fun with Fonts  as the Search Engine

Bots struggled to read and list them in Search results.

 Rest assured

when the Book of the Blog   is published

it will be replete and filled with Font Fumbles

both Upper and Lower Case Studies and

 ripe read rictus  galore

The Collectors' Spectacles

(a   sight   for   sore   eyes)

spectacles   glasses    blinkers  and   goggles

lorgnettes  and  musty  net   curtains

glistening  pince-nez  good  for  a  gossip

monocles  for  posers  full  of  surprises

Nearly  Everyone  knows  that   Quizzing  specs  are  sometimes  sly

The Collectors' Spectacles

Count  Muldivo  has  always  preferred  riveting  spectacles

to  the  drab  and  dribbling  nondescript

more  to  the  point  do  glasses  remember

the  Wonders  and Curios   they  have  beheld

mumbling  past  their vigilant  frames  two by two  achoo

rub  your  glasses  on  a  Tuesday  with  a  wicked  wink  twinkle

and  memories  will  flick  flicker  before  the  blink  of  an  eye

Editors Note :  The Collectors’ Spectacles is from

Paul Biddles’ series in progress - The Cabinet of Curiosities

 Frame        fra ming             F R A M E D            F RAMES

I   have   always    struggled    to choose

how  to frame    and mount    my images

They have never   ever   L ooked quite right

when mounted with large white borders in the traditional way

often causing me to scratch my chin and go Hmmmmmmm

So I decided to try showing them Borderless

Recently I exhibited some of my Cabinet of Curiosity images in a Surrealist Exhibition

For the first time ever ( for me ) I showed them as borderless prints float mounted.

I chose a fairly simple black frame with a renaissance feel. This is how they looked.

Egg Albumum Fact or Diction

Egg   Albumum      Fact   or   Diction ?

You   always   know   when   you   hear   a rat

a     tat  tat     at   the   door

It’s one      of those moments    isn't it ?

Are    you pleased     or

are    you     disturbed ?

Well    in this    case

    I  was     Over The Moon

In    waddled   Egg     Albumum

The   Walking   not quite    talking

Al bum      Ph oto   graphica

I   just   had  to   take   a   snap

of   this   momentous   event

and   here   it   is   for  your

delectation   and   delight

Egg Albumum

She

 didn’t    b    utter   a word

not   a   one   nor   a   2two

I began to understand

what   I had taken   for a quirky grin

was in fact     an   upside   down

Cape   of   Good Hope   triangular   stamp

not   a   mouth   at   all

more   like   my   lips   are   sealed

with   an   interesting   stamp   taboo

Suffice   it  to   say   in   a   postage   stamp   way

I  wasn’t   in   the   least   bit    perturbed

I   spun       Egg   Albumum    around

and  noticed    a zip    most fine

yes   a      zip   zip pity   zip

running    almost all    the way

up or down    her     back

much    to my delight    the zip was made

of    interlocking    ants   yes

ants alive alive   o  all   holding hands

Fun   with   Formica   or     what

For   those   of   us  interested   in   the

anatomy   of   the   zip

yes   yes     there was a zipper   handle

a    fine  Black     Scorpion

with      a smile      in   her   tail

as   they  say  in   the   zip   trade

with   some   trepidation

and   with   a clatter   of   a carapace   or

two

I   undid   the   zip

imagine    the   sound

of  a  fencing match    with   ants legs

and   a     scorpions      smile

for bile   and        health und   safety

 reasons

I   am    not     allowed

to show   you   a   photograph

Enough   of   this   zip   for   now

What   spilled out   of old   Egg Albumum

tummy   tum   tum

Twelve      ancient      Sun   Drawings

All   Curled   paper   brittle

Crackling     with    the  dust   of   ancient   Light

prints    per   say

some     say    replications of reality

we   say   simulacrums  of    Netheregion     Nonsense

Indeed   some   of   the   said    Images

were made centuries      before

the    advent  colander   of    photo graphy

How    could    this    be    possible   ?

Quite   simply

Anything   is   possible   with   a   smattering

of  tooth  paste ,    a   kind  tinder box

and   Precious   temerity      by   the   sea

Editors   Note   :

The   Twelve photographic   like images   found   inside

this   most   unearthly   Phot  o  Album

appear  to   substantiate   the existence   of  Count

 Muldivo’s  Travelling  Cabinet of    Curiosity

I’ m   still   stroking   my   chin   on   this   one

I  just   can’t   accept   the   existence  of  photos

several   centuries   before   the media  was  invented

OK    I   can   accept    the zip   made   from
  interlocking  ants and stuff

The Little Chap - Fact or Fiction?

The   Li ttle   Chap

The Little Chap has appeared in three pictures in my Cabinet of Curiosity

and each time he does he elicits a huge response from women and men

and the occasional side table and of course our friend the budgerigar

He’s a no nonsense sort of chap with an enigmatic air
Little Chap Nesting

A    clean cut jaw        and on some days a   glint       in his eye

At first I thought him to be Hungarian for obvious reasons

He always makes himself at home and bakes the most amazing little buns

but I was soon proven to be mistaken when he baked me a cake of consequence

So why does he elicit     this response ?

Little Chap spots the egg
On the face of it he’s and old engraving squeezed into a 3D shape

Found by the Great Arturo und  Annie Tolaini

Nurtured in their          Cabinet of Curiosity

and generously sent for a little holiday with the Count and Countess Muldivo

where he sleeps in a tiny cotton wool filled   Box of Wonder

I often think about the journey he made form Bristol to Devon

Can see him standing there waiting for the train, his little suitcase in hand,

on the windswept platform patrolled by his friends the Pigeons or were they Dodos?

The Last Dodo

Attila the Hun once asked me

Just what makes this Little Chap Tick    ?

I’m afraid    Nobody Knows but he does have a little clock face
